International Wadden Sea School
A network and service platform for Wadden Sea World Heritage education
The International Wadden Sea School (IWSS) aims to raise awareness of the Wadden Sea as ONE shared nature area among multipliers and users of Wadden Sea education.
In an open network the IWSS brings together environmental educationalists from Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands to share experience and approaches to Wadden Sea education and to jointly develop ideas for transnational activities and trilateral resources. A broad pool of multilingual education and edutainment resources are available with a special focus on the Wadden Sea as an entity. They offer multipliers the chance to include a transnational perspective in the various local and regional education activities.
Coordinated by WWF Germany and the CWSS, the IWSS constitutes the basis for Wadden Sea World Heritage Site education and is in charge of the implementation of the trilateral World Heritage Site education programme. It was founded by the Trilateral Wadden Sea Cooperation and nature NGOs in 2003.
Within the North German initiative "Norddeutsch und Nachhaltig - Mit Bildung Zukunft sichern" the IWSS has been certified as "Bildungspartner für Nachhaltigkeit" for 12 years, first in 2008 and again in 2012 and 2018.
